What about Your Ministry?
In the Church Today, we refer to those whom God calls to be professional ministers as “FULL TIME” ministers.
However, being a minister of the gospel is not something reserved just for those behind the pulpit or on Christian TV. Every believer is in the Full Time Ministry.
God has no part-time help, and believers who work behind a lathe, waitresses, or sit in a office behind a desk, or coaching a soccer team, are as much in the full-time ministry as the Pastor or a large Evangelist who holds crusades around the world.
So you can see that the secret to success in ministry is not WHAT office you stand in, but WHO put you there.
Are you in a Bible College, or operating in some kind of christian work, even Pastoring a church, because it seemed like a good idea , or did God direct you there, and to that position. Are you an attorney because you can make a good living for your family, or did God call you to the Legal Profession.
If you are in God’s will, you can be as fulfilled, peaceful and spiritually productive in a workshop behind a lathe as you can behind a pulpit. And Jesus will not discriminate between “FULL TIME” ministers and ministers in secular positions when He grants rewards at the Judgement Seat of Christ. The Only thing He’s going to ask is; “Did You Do What I INstructed You To Do?”
Many people feel a call into Full Time ministry, and what they fail to understand, is that they are NOT called to a Pulpit ministry, even though they are called into Full-Time ministry! And go on through life fighting for a position, that God has not Appointed them to function in, even though He does have a Full-Time ministry, as every Born-Again believer has. But it does not mean, that it’s a Five Fold calling.
When people attempt to function in a position, they have not been assigned to, they enter into a very Dangerous place. Primarily, its a place of Deception, because what placed them in that position, was Deception Itself. Once they there, they become Dangerous to the people around them, because deception begins to flow in such a subtle way, that it seems as real manifestations of the power of God.
2 Corinthians 11:12-15 But what I do, I will also continue to do, that I may cut off the opportunity to be regarded just as we are in the things of which they boast. For such false apostles (ministers) deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ. And no wonder! Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works.
Here it is, this clearly states what was going on in the early church - It’s no different today, where false prophets are concerned.
One of the way we recognise false preachers/ministers, is that they are always drawing attention to self, and they work, and are self promoting and jogging for position of authority! Making sense? Anyone one you aware of?
False prophets are also, known to have been church members, serving for lengthy period of times and thus, rebelled against God’s Leadership, and left the church out of delusion and rebellion, and the sad part, is that these false prophets in many instances normally draw a large group unsettled believers with them from those churches, leading them to destruction.
Now the Bible clearly states that this is going to be one of the evident signs in these last days!
Mathew 24:24 For false christ’s and FALSE PROPHETS will rise and show great signs and wonders TO DECEIVE, if possible even the elect (the born-again believers).
As I have stated. ANYONE THAT SELF PROMOTES THEMSELVES TO PROMINENT POSITIONS, ARE FALSE PROPHETS, BECAUSE GOD KINGDOM, HAS STRUCTURE, AND ORDER.
Eventually they’ll be found out! And most of these False Prophets are very proud, and unfortunately this is a double death blow, because that pride will hold them back from repentance from their error, and thus increase in error.
Mathew 18:16 … by the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.
Prophecy has to be established by credible spiritual leaders, otherwise, leave it alone! If what you do, is looking for prophecies to confirm the wrongs you hold, you’ll attract many! Believe me.
Jeremiah 27:14-15 Therefore do not listen …. for I have not sent them.Says the Lord, yet they prophesy a lie in My name.
THESE DECEIVERS, ARE NOT AFRAID TO DECEIVE! Be very careful.
The Bible says that we will all be rewarded based on what we did with whatever God gave us to do, and NOT what we did based on works of the flesh.
AS A PASTOR OF A CHURCH OVER THE YEARS I HAVE SEEN MANY BELIEVERS ZEALOUSLY DESIRE TO MOVE INTO FULL-TIME MINISTRY FOR THE WRONG REASONS. In Most Cases, they were led by outward pressures and not by the Spirit of God. And most were insecure in themselves, thinking that by entering the ministry, this would bring them the security they desired.
For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons (mature children) of God. (Romans 8:14)
If you led in your spirit by the Holy Spirit, then you will avoid the following reasons NOT TO GO into Full-Time Ministry:
1. Friends In The Ministry - Your example for the ministry is not your friends bu the Lord Jesus Himself. “… but they, measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are NOT WISE.” (2 Corinthians 10:12)
God is the one who created the plan for your life, and He will place friends in your life who will merely CONFIRM what He has already REVEALED TO YOU in your heart. If that confirmation does not come, you serve and wait for it, no matter how long it may take - But never, I say NEVER, step out without that confirmation, because if you do, you will open yourself up to deception and deceiving spirits, and the worst part, is that you will deceive others, and bring heartache, pain and judgement upon yourself and others. It is a serious issue.
2. Pressure From a Guest Minister - Traveling evangelists or visiting missionaries often see the great needs of the world and take on the role of God’s Recruiter. Through emotional appeals and stirring slide presentations or video clips, they tell you not to wait, and that there is no time to wait any longer, and that you are to join God’s Army NOW. After all, the Word of God says “GO”, so you do not have to think or pray about it, but simply go. All of this can be deceptive, and as a result the world is filled with enthusiastic but quickly frustrated ministers who either were not called to be where they are, or went out too soon and were never separated. Even Jesus was not directed by the needs of the world, but BY THE WILL OF GOD.
If you minister because of the needs you see, you will spread yourself too thin and quickly become discouraged. However, if you accept your calling and are faithful to do what God has led you and assigned, day by day, you will be content. Then, when you see a need, you can pray for and financially support your Church’s ministry Outreaches, that God has called to meet that need. This is why the Body of Christ is a Team and not one member!
3. You Feel Like You Are Getting Old - You may have been saved or recommited your life to the Lord at an older age, ad now you feel like you have wasted your life. But the Holy Spirit tells us in Collossians 4:5 that God “redeems the time”, and He can make up for lost years if you will move at His Pace. There are many examples in God’s Word of those who began a successful ministry later in life. Moses, for instance, entered the ministry at Eighty years old.
4. The Ministry Looks Glamorous - Your job seems dull and you are only winning a few people to Christ now and then, while the masses in exotic places and around the world are crying for Jesus. The grass always looks greener on the other side of the TV set, when thousands are saved.
The truth is, the ministry is far from glamorous, and the work is very hard. Many full-time ministers would gladly trade places with you at the worshop, factory or office, and their families would love for them to have a nine-to-five, Monday-to-Friday job like everyone else.
Your ministry at the office or factory, may not always be exciting to you, but it is to the Lord. You and your ministry are just as important to Him as the famous evangelist and his ministry, and He has a specific purpose for you being where you are.
5. Jesus Is Coming Soon - Since the Lord’s return could come at any moment, you feel as if you need to be “Out There”. What if Jesus came and you were NOT Fulfilling your Calling?
The fact of the matter is, you cannot fulfill your calling unless you faithful to what the Lord has led you to do NOW, at this time. “The steps of a righteous man are ordered of the Lord.” (Psalm 37:23). And I would rather be found diligently preparing for ministry when Jesus comes, than to be ‘Out There” too soon with nothing to preach and probably making a mess of my life and the lives of those around me!
God is pleased with those who exercise patience and wait for His Timing. Don’t be worried that God will overlook or forget you. He knows right where you are and He knows when to Separate those whom He has called.
What the Lord has begun in you He will complete.
The Lord will perfect that which concerns you. (Psalm 138:8)
More than anything, remember that God created you for a Reason. He has a plan and a purpose for your life. You are not an accident or an afterthought, and He knows the end of your life from the beggining.
If you will put your trust in the Lord, believe His Word and live it through the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and be Faithful to do, and stay Faithful to do, and remain where He has called you, then you will achieve success in life and great rewards in eternity.
More than that, your life will be Pleasing to God, a Blessing to all the Lives you touch, and a tremendous JOY and FREEDOM for you!
Delight yourself also in the Lord; and He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit yout way unto the Lord; trust also in Him; and he shall bring it to pass. (Psalm 37:4-5)
I pray that this teaching has impacted your life and cleared your thinking in regards to following God’s Plan for your life!
